Question Need Advice on Sanding and Finishing Bottle Stoppers

I am looking for some advice on sanding the stoppers I have been making. I have been using the type J sanding cloth strips but I am having a hard time in the grooves and valleys. I have seen the Abralon sanding pads are they better for this or do you have another way? I have been using BLO and shellac or polyurethane polish to finish my last few but is their any other that can be used with the grooves and valleys?

A man needs only two tools: WD40 and duct tape. If it does not move and should, use the WD40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.
