Default Buffing out Lacquer a finish

I have a wood veneer project coming up that I think a clear high gloss lacquer finish would be a stunning compliment to the job. I have never buffed out lacquer before and I had some questions:
1. Can I use a standard spray lacquer (I generally use the Cab acrylic lacquer from Sherwin Williams) and apply in the normal spray manner and the buff it out at the end?
2. Do I need to make sure I get a high gloss lacquer in order to make the buffing process work?
3. Should I apply any extra coats than normal in order to make the buffing process easier or more complete?
4. How long should I let the completed spray finish sit or rest before I start the buffing process?
5. Is a lamb’s wool buffing pad on a typical sidewinder buffer/polisher sufficient?
6. What type of sandpaper and liquid buffing compounds would I need 1,000, 1,500, 2,000?
7. What are the big things I should watch out for or try to avoid?
I appreciate any help or suggestions you can offer.
