Default green wood for pen blanks

I have some maple that i am going to cut up for some pen blanks...will it be okay to turn this green? Or should I attempt to dry it out using the microwave method before hand?

I would nuke them. 30 second on, 3-4 minutes off. Shouldn't take too many cycles.

I agree with Daren, nuke it. Green wood could work on a pen if you glue it and turn it fairly quickly. Once it's turned it's very thin and might dry as you sand it. However it would suck to have it split while your sanding and ruin a good pen kit.
