Default DIY Hollower

Here we go I knocked this up as I needed a shorter one. My first one is quite long and kinda cumbersome on small bowls.

I have made a few of these now for friends

If you hadn't asked, I would have. Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't know.

Default further explaination

Ok heres a couple of links that will explain better than I can especially the YouTube video

http://www.aroundthewoods.com/oland.shtml

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=jznN1FCmZTw

Its a very simple tool that can be made easily, although some woodies for whatever reason prefer to buy one. I guess they are not set up to make thier own.
The pic shows it with no handle and little piece of tube is the ferrule. The turned down portion is for the tang, whereas the smaller project is a piece of HSS tool steel 1/4" sq that acts as the cutting edge

Heres a good discussion from another forum on this type of tool

I use them allot, the original inventor was Rude Oland and I believe his wife still runs his web site. But I have not always been able to find it
