Default Bottlestopper turnning class

My local Woodcraft store has different classes every week and this weekend they were turnning bottlestoppers.I've been planning on going for a few weeks now and it was worth the wait.I thought it would last about 30min. but it was 3hrs long.He made some great pieces and I learned alot.He said he likes to design his own pieces so they will be different.I'm about ready to try my hand at something like this. There is a class on X-mas ornaments in Nov. and I will be there too.Classes are "free" so I would be crazy not to attend. He also threw in a little on proper tool sharpening which was also helpful.I would like to learn some on bowl turning in the future.

Must be nice! None of the classes at my local woodcraft are free... especially the turning classes. They occasionally have demonstrations for free, but none of the classes. Consider yourself lucky.

That's awesome. I wish I had a Woodcraft in my town. I like turning bottle stoppers because there's very little planning. I can just mount a piece, put my gouge to it and see what happens. The few times that I tried to make a certain shape, they came out funny. Now I just wing it!
