Welcome tmuli. We Texans are getting out of hand here. Maybe it's because the owner lives here I don't know, but it seems we are out-numbering the rest of the country altogether.

hey we have an award winning history professor here in fannin county and well known author (amongst history types) who has written scores of books many of which are used as textbooks etc. Several of them are about your exact location and the surrounding region of San Saba. His name is Robert S Weddle - when I worked for my dad in the late 80s I replaced Mr. Weddles AC/heat unit and didn't know who he was at the time - until he started talking. He was fascinating. A walking history library.
Anyhow, if you want to know about the history of your area, a guy up here in Fannin County has written the books on it!

I assume he is still kicking he is somewhat of a celebrity around here and I don't remember hearing of his passing. If he is still alive and hasn't moved I bet can get you a signed autograpgh copy of The San Saba Mission: Spanish Pivot In Texas. . .if you are so inclined to want to learn your local history. Oh and you'd have to buy the book and send it to me.
