Figured I would say hello from Arkansas. I have been doing woodworking since I was 4 or 5 years old. My dad was a great craftsman and I learned most of what I know from him. I have just gotten serious about it though in the last couple of years. It is a great hobby, and I enjoy turning raw wood into a nice piece of art.

Well..... I started at age 14 - 15.... so I guess you have me beat. My Dad wouldn't let me use his tools until then. Recently getting into woodworking more serious now too that my Dad has given me all his tools. (His health doesn't allow him to work with them any more.)
Welcome to the forum.

Default Projects

Thanks for the replys. Mostly what I have been building latly are jewlry boxes, flower planters, and gun racks. I built some bunk beds and a changing table for my daughters dolls. I am now getting into using a lathe. My current project is a coffee table, using post oak. Hard to work with, but it sure has some pretty grains in it. Will post some pics at a later time

Default Post Oak

Its a member of the white oak family. It got its name because it used to be used to make fence posts with. It is a very hard wood and takes a lot of patience to work with it.
