Thought i'd write a quick hello, am a newish woodworker gradually building up skills n knowledge from tv shows (Norm obviously, but started with my Gramps- a pattern maker from Kent who sadly passed away b4 i could pick his knowledge) and the woodies on this site now. Hope to get some help from anyone here as would like to start a new career, am in my mid thirties but in good knick all round !
Am i goin to need proper qualifications or will practice practice and more practice do ?

Practice of course. Also selection of the proper tools. What do you want to build mostly (if you know) and what tools do you have to start out with?

I've been at it for about 18months now but VERY part time, making bedroom furniture n small tables, made myself a bed first but now have two mahogony bedside tables (my own design) so the bed looks a little....rustic ?
Have a small garage not for car now as full of tools n storage n work benches !! Really only need to upgrade some of the tools now from diy quality to heavy usage (i think) or might wait till they're exhausted !
Bandsaw & tablesaw are both gooduns and the router table is a Norm special but with the Rout-r-lift thing on it, otherwise the morticer is a 99 quid job that doubles as a drill press and drum sander, the planer is a small table top one but the thicknesser is a portable De Walt, the rest is hand held sanders,drills,circ saw,jigsaw etc..............oh I have got a hammer and a set of chisels !!
