Smile Another Illinoisian

Hi All,

I'm John from Illinois. Live in the western Chicago suburbs. Recently retired after 32 years as a cop. Have been interested in woodworking and construction in general all my life. Now that I have the time I'm putting together a little shop in my garage. Have a Unisaw, scroll saw, jointer, band saw, sanding station, lathe, etc, etc.
To get myself started I have been making wooden toys for my 1 1/2 year old nephew, using him as a guinea pig ! I find working on projects very relaxing although sometimes very frustrating.
Anyhow, I've lurked here for a couple of weeks now and decided to join. I think all the forums are great but I find the saw milling forum particularly fascinating.
Looking forward to contributing in any small way that I can.

John,
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have the start of a good shop. Don't let the frustration part bother you, that's what makes it worthwhile.

Welcome from Texas.
Don't sweat the frustration, with is come creativity and ingenuity if we allow it.

Welcome to the forum. I worked in Downers Grove earlier this year. I built the bar and trimmed out Gatto's restaurant on main street.
