I've never owned a Freud router, but it sure looks like a good deal to me.

Default note: these are reconditioned units

I'm not saying they are bad, or that this is a bad deal.

However ... these are not "brand new" units. It isn't till you scroll down the ad to below the photo that you see:

"Freud Factory Reconditioned Router with 90 day Freud Factory Warranty".

(The price comparison is, of course, against a brand new unit.)

they are a little slow on shipping but it was such a good deal i couldnt pass it up
so i ordered mine and it came yesterday, be prepared for a MONSTER case! looks
like a damn piece of luggage its so big. now i just have to get a plate for my router
table and get this baby fired up. cant wait to try out the above table bit changes
and adjustments.

as for it being reconditioned, that dont bother me at all. in fact i would take a refurb
over a new model any time, and my reasoning is this. if a unit comes back defective
or open box, they take it apart to see if anything is wrong, fix what is and test the
hell out of it before packaging it back up to make sure it does work before having to
go through all that again.
i have owned so much refurb items over the years and have never had a problem.
sometimes the warranty is just as good as new and other times its not.

Default Glad you could get the "deal"

I'm glad someone here could take advantage of it. The height adjustment
feature is cool. I like your reasoning on the refurb tools. Make sense to me. bill

i was just out in the shop for a few hours this afternoon looking over the router getting to know it,
and switched to the solid base so im ready when i get my table insert.
and i assume you must have to remove the baseplate off the router when you install the router to
the tables insert? if not, one of the holes would be covered for being able to use the knob tool to
lock the spindle.

Default My suggestion is

Yes, remove the base plate mark the hole for the adjustment shaft. Center the base plate on top of the router table plate and duplicate the hole you have marked in the top of the new plate. A little oversize won't hurt. Chamfer the hole with a counter sink. When reinstalling the original plate, there is a tool/jig/guide that is tapered and will center a guide bushing in the plate relative to the collet. Made out of brass, from Woodcraft, or www.ptreeusa.com . bill
