Question Wood Varieties for Window Boxes, Planters & Exterior Shutters

I'd like to get some advice, what wood varieties are best for outdoor projects such as window boxes, planters and exterior shutters?

We’ve used Cedar, Redwood, Teak and Mahogany.

How would you rank these types of woods from 1-4 for outdoor use, 1 being the best?

Are there other wood varieties that I should considering for outdoor products?

Window Boxes
Planters
Exterior Shutters

Yellow cedar, if you can find it is very rot resistant and should be suitable for window boxes and planters.

Teak is WAY to expensive and not required.

A waste of mahogany.

Depending upon where you are located redwood or cedar is good. I believe redwood has also gotten expensive.

Cyprus is very good if you live in an area where it is available.
