Default Whats a good way to get glue off of stain?

Hi all, I have a simple question. I like to stain all my peices before assembly, I just find it easier this way. There's only one problem, sometime a little glue squeezes out. Generally, it's just a small amount of glue, but it's annoying no less. Is there an easy way to rid the glue, w/o messing up the stain? Thanks for any replys.

For me it depends on what I'm working on that dictates weather I stain it first or not, generally I stain after glue up. Geting stain on a inside part of a glue joint isn't a good thing. Your not really specific enough in your question to answer it effectively.

Use strips of Blue tape around the edges for protection.

After glue-up, just peel the tape away.

I dont stain before glueing for that very reason. You could try the blue tape. Or assuming the stain is dry when you glue, make sure to wipe the glue up really well with a damp cloth. I keep a cup of water on hand, dip a rag in it and wipe the glue off. I repeat this 3 times or so until I am convinced I have gotten it all.

I have to agree, in your situation.

One question, why do you find it easier to stain before glue-up?

"Geting stain on a inside part of a glue joint isn't a good thing."

Do not overlook this statement. The stain can reduce the holding power of the glue.
