Default What is this plastic tool

My girlfriend found this at her house, and asked me what it was. I told her I had no clue, but I bet I could find out. Now I just need the help from this board.

Looks like an angle measurement tool for a table saw blade, but I've never seen anything like that with any saw I've ever seen. I don't think it could be what I'm thinking though, because I think the slot would have to be reversed for it to work like I'm thinking...

This one should be fun. It has to be some sort of protractor/miter gauge of some kind.

I have seen one similar to this it was used for setting the cuts for molding on a chop saw or radial arm saw . the slit is for setting the 90s . the one I used went to 60 deg. It was used before compound saws.

I like this one better
The short length base goes against the fence and the long edge is just to get the range of angles. YUP.
The gap is pretty wide for accuracy on 90's , doncha think?

Woodnthings .Went to the shop to find mine . but no luck. The gap on mine fit the thick blade to perfection .The angle wood help set the back cut. The new chop saws changed all that. You don't need it any more.

It's half the angle device that comes with the ridgid jointer. the other half is missing and fits in the slot. Combined it enables you to check 90, 45 and 120.

Default Well so far we've got 4 different uses

They all seem reasonable. Can I use it to sight in my deer rifle? Betcha I can! Apparently it's the ultimate "multitool"

This is right. I bought a ridgid 6 1/8" jointer this summer and one of these came with it. I will try and get a picture to show you the two peices put together

If you look at this picture on the right leg of the jointer you will see the red plastic gauge sticking out. http://www.ridgid.com/ASSETS/0261B39...10_1_Final.jpg

Default That thing is like Rubic's Cube and a Mobius Strip

I wouldn't know where to start or which end is up. Definitely won't help with my deer rifle. Nice jointer! Is it me or do most photos of cast iron make it look rusty? Stuff on Craigs list always looks way rusty, maybe that's cause it is....
Or did you clean the rust off for the last 2 pictures?
oh I see not all the photos are from the same post...duhhh
bill
BTW all nblumert needs to do is find the missing piece and he'll have a complete set.

Woodnthings...mine is actually starting to get some surface rust due to the cold weather starting and being in an uninsulated garage. I'm going to have to do some research and figure out what needs to be done to protect my tools in the garage so they don't become rusty.

Ponch, I insulated my garage, but it still gets pretty cold in the dead of winter. A good coating of T9 Boeshield followed by wax keeps my stuff rust free. I have had zero rust issues with my cast iron.
