Default What kind of hinge?

I am thinking of building a coffee table with a lift top. You know, one that comes up and out towards you. I have been searching and searching for what the hinge or hinge kit is called with no luck. I have seen reference to piano hinge and continuous hinge but a Google search revealed nothing promising. Can anyone point (link) me in the wright direction?

Thanks in advance.

I hope their is not a hardware section I looked over.

"one that comes up and out towards you."

I cannot envision what you are describing. Any pictures. The lid just rotates around a piano hinge.

Interesting.

That hinge turns a coffee table into a work table.

I want to transfom my coffee table into a motion furniture. I love motion furniture. I've wanted to figure out how to do that with a home made wood mechanism.
