Default US cabinet saw

Afternoon all. Anyone out there who knows where i could get hold of a used powermatic or delta cabinet saw. If this is a stretch what about buying any of these new in the uk.

Thanks

It is not common to find a used one, they are passed on when one dies. But check Craigslist, Ebay, etc. Do a search for used saws.

Default Not sure of your question

Are you in the UK and want to buy a US made saw to bring/ship over? Or do want to buy a European version of the saw already wired for the different frequency and voltage? Second question raises issues from the first. I don't have knowledge of the voltage requirements and if a US made saw will operate properly there, but the shipping charges would be prohibitive in my view. Find one there somehow. JMO. bill

There are a lot of Powermatic & Delta saws on the IRS Auctions website http://www.irsauctions.com/?flash=9 , but don't know if anyone will ship one across the Atlantic, I even gave up looking into getting one shipped to California and it was about $350.00. The shipping charge to the U.K. would probably be as much or close to the cost of a new saw. There should be more and more older saws coming up for sale as I had read that a lot of school shops are swapping them out for the Saw Stop.

Thanks for the info guys

I was hoping to drop on either a used saw that had been converted to uk voltage or find a uk dealer who converted the saws for sale in the uk.
its not sounding that im likely to find either - never mind.

So do any of you well informed chaps know of a uk or european made cabinet saw that could come anywhere near the powermatic.

Cheers

watters,

For what it's worth, swapping motors on the saw, or converting it to 240,50 Hz shouldn't be difficult at all, if you can find a saw. The bigger difficulty will be finding one at the right price. I recommend checking classified ads near some of the US military bases. You might get lucky finding some Yank that for whatever reason doesn't want to move his equipment again, or is getting out of the hobby. It's not a high likelihood, but it's a possibility.

I just recently saw some posts on the Inca TS, which I believe is from Switzerland. Hard to beat Swiss Machining.
