Default Topping Plywood and Trimming Formica????

Good Morning Everyone,

I am TRULY SORRY for all the questions! I hope I am not becoming a "REAL PITA". I am looking at EVENTUALLY building a desk. It will be used by mostly adults but children also. I am looking to put formica (good practice for redoing kitchen) onto plywood for the desk top. I have glued the formica with the contact cement, rollers(removing one at time) etc. I guess my real question is trimming the edges of the excess. Could a full size router be used? Should I use the small handheld "trimmer"? Big question, what bit?

Thanks again

Any hand held router that is comfortable in your hand will do! If you use a flush trim bit with bearing...you will need to still file the edge. They sell proper laminate triming bits. Some don`t have bearings...but they burn the laminate. The best ones have a bearing and the cutter adds a slight bevel...with the right depth setting...you can get very good results. Rick
