Default Tapering question

Sorry Folks,

Seems like all I ever contribute are questions!

I'm tapering legs for a wine table and was wondering if anyone has a great scientific angle number for looks and stability.
This one is 10 inches high by a quarter. Looks pretty good to me but I'd rather not make a mistake this far in. This table is my own design so if it works it's all yours . Thanks in advance.

Oh ya: the board will only be tapered on 2 sides (like the picture), with a shelf (dadoed 1/4") starting right above the taper. What'd ya think? Too much?

Dave

P.S. Yes I smoke soap bubbles with my 4 year old on occasion. Just noticed that .

Here's what ya do. Pick up a roll of the cheap rolled brown paper (36" wide) that you can get at any stationary section of drug stores or department stores like Target, Wal-Mart, or K Mart.

Draw a full size (1:1) table drawing from two views...front...and end. Draw it with the taper you have chosen. This way you can stand back and look at it and see if changes have to be made.

This suggestion isn't to put you off, but rather details like that can be a personal like or dislike. What gets suggested, you might not like.

Default Or......

What I do if I'm really not sure and want to ask the LOML, is cut one out of cardboard or a scrap 2X4 so she can see it actual size.
Actually, I did that recently when I was building a table and wasn't sure of which style leg to use so I cut 2 of them, laid them on the floor with the actual apron in place.

What a guy.
