Tape Residue on Veneer - Woodworking Talk

I am veneering a table top w/ commercial veneer & it glued up perfectly but it is leaving the residue from the blue painters tape that held it to the substraight. Is there another type of material that should be used for future projects. I have tried Naptha to clear it off but it is still there. Because the veneer is so thin I can't sand it off. Is there another solution to this problem? I'm guessing that my finish will cover up the problem areas but it is still aggravating.

I've seen scrapers used for that stuff...

How long did you leave the tape on? I have only seen that occur when the tape is left on to long. I have never veneered, yet, but I have seen folks use vacuum presses for this. Or for us poor folks pieces of plywood and bricks.
