You have a great start to a shop going there!

I am a little surprised by a band saw, but no table saw... What sort of projects are you working on?

It looks like you are a Sears Craftsman kind of guy. The folding jobsite saws that Sears sells are made by Ryobi, one of the current models, the 21829, is a great saw, same thing as my Ryobi BT3100 but on a folding stand. The other one, 21806, is the same saw as a Ryobi BTS21, which is still a decent enough saw for a lot of uses, but lacks the flexibility, or accuracy of the 21829 / BT series saws.

If you can wait and stow some cash aside for a little while, wait until the 21829 goes on sale for under $400.00

The reason for no table saw is I technically have one. I inherited my grandfathers table saw and joiner but they are 800 miles away. I did not want to buy a new table saw for this reason. I have been coming up with intresting ways of doing what I need with the other tools. Also if I bring it here to my house I have no chance of putting my truck in the garage. I plan to only be in this house another year so I haven't decided if I am going to take the truck up and get the tablesaw or wait a year until we move. I have not been able to pass up some of the deals I have gotten at Sears lately. 10" band Saw for $140 and a new router and table for $80. I had a little trouble with the first router I got and they have been real good about upgrading my router for free and taking care of me so I am a little partial.

Default Up dated pictures / Moving on

Still working on the interior layout of the shop. Won't show you the outside again. Still no siding and shingles. But still playing inside. originally the shop was 16'x32'. I thought I would like a 10'x16' screened in porch that would overlook the lake. But before I knew it I had walls and 160 Sq ft of additional shop. Don't know how that happened

Attached pictures show that I used a 5'x9' section (behind the French doors) for a small office / dust free area. To the left of the office behind the peg board wall I have a 5'x7' hidden tool room. There is no door to this room. The Bookshelf in the office is a false door that swings open. I keep all of my tools in this room.

The stereo is the bait for anyone that would break in. Take my stereo but leave my tools alone

The wood used on the exterior wall and office wall was reclaimed from a kitchen tear out we did. Just used the backside of the planks.

Additional pictures in my album

Will I ever finish? Probably not !!

Default Pics of my shop

I built this shop by myself almost 10 years ago.It is 1100 sq. ft timberframe with rough sawn SYP board and batten siding. I laid the brick piers, made all of the windows and doors from scratch ,did it all..
I started by building a scale model.

This is the finished shop

This is the view of the work area.

This is a view of the loft.

Mike, i like your shop. I like the rustic look of it and it looks like a true old timey craftsman works there.

Hence the reason everything is on a wheeled stand. I can take down the table and put all the rolling carts against a wall and my truck and go in the garage but that is not usually worth the effort on a regular basis. I just finished the band saw cart the other day.
I like the big wheels on drill press cart. It really makes a difference when you get involved in a large project and need to suddenly move everything around. I always end up with wood chips, screws or nails finding their way under the wheels. The larger wheels are easier to roll over those things.

2 car garage is filled up with tools and tables and stands. So I started clearing out a place for a shop. I had to cut into a slope but it is graded. Now I have to build my retaining wall and then get to start on the foundation.I am really excited. The biggest thing I have ever built was a dog house so I am in for a long battle.Sorry I dont have pics. Im just ready to have a workshop project under my belt.

You are going to really enjoy building this new shop allthumbs27, nothing like a new shop. I just sold my house and moved into the home I grew up and helped build ( most of it myself) with a 18 x 32 shop minus a bumb in around 500 sqft( old one was 20x20) 400 sqft I am going to build a extra 8 x 21 storage room off the back 168 sqft to give me a grand total of 668 sqft so I have to start all over refitting but looking foward to it.

Although it's not as pretty and as large as most of the shops in this thread, it is mine. At a modest 12' X 24', it is the place where I am the happiest. Content to make sawdust. Built by my father and I last April, I have finally organized it enough that I can post some photos. I hope that you enjoy them.
