I have a Craftsman RAS from the mid 70's that I now just use for crosscuts. It is set true for 90 deg cuts and never gets moved from there. My miter saws can do much of what it does, but even for the narrower stuff I still prefer the RAS. I like the wider table and having the room for stops for cutting to length. The miter saws I use for angle cuts mostly. For meit will be one of the last ones I would get rid of.

I went for years without a RAS and I finally bought one off Crags list. I’m glad I did. It will never take the place of my table saw but I love the convenience of being able to cut different things without having to reset my table saw. I can go from ripping to crosscut with ease.

As many have said, keep it if you can.
I built a long bench, 20' X 20", along the back wall of my shop. I have the RAS and Miter built into it. Both tables are at the height of the bench so basically it's a work surface for anything of length that needs cut. (Mostly just another one of those horizonal surfaces that is a catch-all)

I don't use it much but if I do need it it's handy.

Hi Bob:

I don't have good luck with the RAS making dados. I prefer instead skis on my router.
