Default Router Mounting Plate

I am in the process of designing a router table for my router. I need a 1/4" aluminum router mounting plate for my older router B&D. I realize that my router is old (circa 1980...), but I measured the bolt pattern on the base, it measures Ø5.00", with (4) equal spaces for the c'sink screws. The screws measure about Ø3/16" (not sure on the thread). Any idea where I might find a plate to fit this router?

Thank you,

Tom

Rockler sells blank plates where you have to drill the holes.

However, if it were me, I would make one out of 3/8" baltic birch plywood. With appropriate bracing a home built mounting plate should be as stable as a purchased one.

Would 3/8 BB ply be strong enough to support a router w/out sagging? Those blanks are pretty easy to make, I have the phenolic ones and they are pretty strong, though I think the steel 1/4" probably have superior ridgidity(is that a word?). If you call some of the customer support lines for Rockler, Lee Valley, Bench Dog, maybe they can direct you to a product that will match your router or tell if you if it is Group A, B, C or whatever. Good luck!

Hi Tom

I called a local metal recycler for my router plate, and got a piece 10" x 12" x 3/16" aluminum for about $4. Its easy to drill and is stiff enough to hold any router.

Not a bad Idea. I did the same thing but bought some scrap 3/8" Acrylic (Plexiglas ) 12" x 20" for $18 at a plastic supply. I think the Plexiglas is easier to mill for inserts and holes.
