Default New Router Bit Cabinet

Hey everyone. I've been away on business for a few weeks & it's good to be back & see what's going on in the forum. Over the weekend, I built a small cabinet for my growing router bit collection. It's not finished yet (needs a door & some minor tweaks), but it's a pretty simple concept: 21 1/2" X 13 1/2", made of 3/4" walnut, box joints for the cabinet + 10 removable trays (12"L X 2"W X 1 1/4"D) that are attached to the back panel with rare earth magnets (so you can pull each tray out as needed), brass inserts, holds 70 router bits & hangs on the wall. Maybe a bit overdone, but I had fun making the thing. Again, thanks for all your help.

Terry

Terry,
Very nice holder. Were the brass inserts anything special, in other words, where did you get them?

Hi Mike. I found the inserts at the Lee Valley website. They make them for 1/4", 1/2" & 8mm shanks. At first I thought they were a little expensive at about $2 apiece, but then I realized that my router bits are becoming one of the most precious investments in my shop & I wanted to build something to protect them. I still need to make a door for the cabinet, but I appreciate your kind remark. Laying the whole thing out was a challenge.

Windstorm That's a very nice router cabinet. I hope you left room for many extra new bits.

I've got room for about 40 more bits, Handyman. If I need more than that, I guess I'll have to build another cabinet. I do like just being able to see them all together & pulling one right off the wall when I need it. Thanks for the compliment.
