Question new to the forum

hello guys im new to this forum this is my first post i had a couple of questions for more experienced wood workers. firstly i will give u a back ground of my current project. i am planning to start carving another set of grips for my pistol for a look at the atory on those it can be found here http://www.defensivecarry.com/vbulle...tom-grips.html
there are a couple of problems with these mainly the color of the wood. i was wondering if yall could tell me where i can get some exotic dark woods fairly cheap or free if i can since they are fairly small pieces that i need! i live in huntsville al if that helps any. thanks to all in advance for any info!
