Default New Features Added to WoodworkingTalk.com

I just finished some upgrades to the site and I wanted to let everyone know about them. Sorry the upgrade took so long, I ran into some problems along they way..

New Profiles
This is a work in progress but I hope it will turn into something useful.
Your profile page now has the ability to make contacts, upload photos, message people, and see posts and stats.

The easiest way to get to your profile is to click on your name in the upper right hand corner of the page

New Photo Albums
You can now create a photo album that will be attached to your profile. Upload photos of your projects and tell us a little about them. It's pretty easy to upload photos now and you can also use this to attach images to threads as well. This is a MUCH better solution than our old gallery and it should solve a lot of head aches.

Not only are images A LOT easier to upload now because the system will auto resize them for you... but it also includes "BB Code" so you can attach the images to threads after you upload them to your profile. So, hopefully you can use this now instead of image shack.

Here is the BB Code...

PLEASE NOTE:
The new Albums feature is replacing our old Gallery. Because of this I have turned off the option to upload new photos to the old gallery. You can still edit your old photos and comment on them but all new photos should be uploaded through your profile. Trust me... this is a much better tool.

The old gallery is still there and will remain in place. You can find a link to it under "Quick Links' on the navbar but this will be the system to use moving forward.

Friends
You can now create contacts between users. This enables you to be able to keep track of each other, share photos, and more. For example you can chose to only receive Private Messages from friends if you don't want to be contacted by anyone else. You can also upload photos that only friends can see.

Thread Prefixes
You now have the ability to add prefixes to your thread title. This only works in certain forum topics and we will be adding more and more as we go but for example you can add a For Sale prefix to something you want to sell to make it clear to people searching what the post is about.

Video Walkthroughs
I know a lot of these features are new and may be confusing so I'm in the process of creating video walkthroughs. Here is a list of what we have done so far.

Adding Photos To Your Profile

More To Come
There are a lot of other new features and I'll continue to update this post as I enable them

Thanks for your membership

Nathan: thanks for all your efforts to make this forum a better community on our behalf. It is probably some pretty thankless work that you do for us...

regards,
smitty

Thanks!

The moderators receive most of the credit though. They do a great job of keeping the conversation going in the right direction which is the most important thing for these sites. Thanks Mods

Nathan

On a small scale, I develop and maintain web sites (in addition to my woodworking hobby), so I know how much work is involved in maintaing an active site. Good word, and thanks.
