Default New deck cover.

Haven't showed you the new deck cover I did this
summer. 16'X16', metal roof came in under $500
including the lights. Mostly bolted together.
The roof was a big surprise, I had planned on a
fiberglass roof but was told to make it last it needed
to be painted. Decking and shingles were too heavy.
On a whim I called a local metal manufacturing
company, Central States Manufacturing to get an
estimate.

http://www.centralstatesmfg.com/

They came by, took measurements and called me
back in less than an hour. The panels are cut to
length, 17', and it included the fasteners.
$190.20! It came on a pallet, wrapped and
banded. The roofing weighs just under 200lbs.

As you can see, I had a hidden agenda for doing
the cover for the deck!

Roof looks good. Can't tell from the picture, but, did you pitch it? I used roofing I got at Lowes called Ondura, for a shed I built. Very light weight, panels were 49" x 79" and about $15 each.

BTW, I like the custom ramp.

It has one foot in 16 slope.

I looked at that roofing and was told it had an
odor when it gets hot. Have you noticed that?

The ramp got me in trouble, she figured out why I
did the cover when I put the ramp there!

In the summer I keep the boat in the shop, and just
move it out when I work. This doesn't work too well
in the winter, trying to keep the shop warm and
the boat dry.

Thanks for the reply.

My first choice was a metal roof. It would have been more expensive, heavier, harder to install, and maybe more prone to leak. I haven't noticed an odor, and it's hot here a lot. It is a "cool" roof and likely not as noisy as metal.

You can tell when it starts raining!

This was real easy to install, just six panels. no
cross seams. Three double overlaps to get the
width right. Installed with special sealing screws.
They have a washer that melts when it gets hot
the first time and seals the hole. Forty year
warranty on the finish. I have 24" centers, but
it can be put on 48" and still walk on it.

It took less than two hours to install the roof and
that included a couple breaks and I did it without
help.

Oh yeah...oh yeah!!! Well, I had six panels, and two ridge covers, special ringed nails with self sealing rubber washers. It has a 100 year warranty, I took 3 breaks, and it took me twenty minutes.

Just kidding.

the breakfast nook?"

Good looking roof. Pretty reasonable price too. But, I am puzzled. Aren't boats supposed to get wet????

Just kidding.

So good to hear a story re such good service with the metal roof. So different from the usual take it or leave it attitude. Trust you will return their service with recommendations.
