I am making this for a friend...I have the sail part built...and am wondering what the best method would be in making the boat part.
I made the sail out of 1 inch pine. any and all suggestions would be great.

The boat part, or hull, looks like it was carved. If you have access to a bandsaw I would suggest shaping the hull with the bandsaw and then smoothing it down with a belt sander, or a flap sanding wheel on an angle grinder. The final finishing could be done by hand sanding.

The hull could also be shaped with a spokeshave.

Glued up multiple pieces to give you the rough shape layered down, then go town with a belt sander.
