Default Need help - Here's an odd one for you

I just finished a 6 month project putting together two tables and am preparing them for the finish. (http://www.woodworkingtalk.com/showt...2447#post42447). However, my soon-to-be-dead dog decided to relieve herself next to one of the tables in the garage. Now I have urine soaking up two of the legs on one of the tables. It was about 2" into the legs when I found it. Last night I sprayed some bleach water on there to kill any bacteria, but what I really want to know is was that enough, or is there something else that I should do?

Here is an answer, but I don't think you will like what the guy says.

Wait a few more days, if all looks OK, then just lightly sand and finish it off.

You're right, I'm not going to like that one.

It's dry now. The wood swelled a little, and is now starting to split where I glued it. I sprayed bleach water on the outside and on the end grain to try and kill any bateria in there. The wood is a little lighter, but not bad. I plan on using a dark stain, so hopefully that will cover any differences.

Would it be a good idea to spread some wood glue on the base of the feet (end-grain) to prevent this or other liquids from leaching up into the wood?
