Default Myrtle woods: hard to cure?

I've started trimming a crimson bottlebrush tree (Callistemon) in my yard, and a few of the branches look thick enough to cut up and use for inlay and decorative work. But Callistemons are in the myrtle family, and my understanding is myrtle woods are the toughest to cure without warping and cracking... just wondering if any of you guys could advise me on this.
