Default My Shop

I didn't realize I had these pics in my puter. Recently moved some files over to new laptop - Windows Vista. I guess most of you know the problem. LOL
Anyway, I rent a mini-storage bay 12 X 36. I built a room in the back to keep personal items relatively dust free.
I'm building from scratch since I lost everything in Hurricane Katrina.
It will take me a while to get going like I want to. Maybe the guy next door will move his stuff out and I can expand into his bay.
For those of you not familiar with boat live-aboards, it is quite common for us to rent mini-storage locations for a small shop.

P.S. These pics were not all taken at the same time. My shop was evolving rapidly in the early stages. The photo looking down the center of my shop does not show the wood storage racks.

Default Mini-Storage Units

Well more than half of the units in my facility are taken up by small shops or boats under repair.
My unit is 12 x 36 and is $150/month. That is a typical price for the places that I have lived.
To me, and obviously many others, it is worth it.

I purchased a 10'x14' storeage shed 2yrs ago and turned it into my wood shop, used to have a 8x8 room in baasement. The building is big enough for now houses all my tools, several shelves, and small bookcase, plus 3 work benches of which 2 smaller benches have my bandsaw, and combo-belt anddisc sander mounted on, other has my benchtop castiron drillpress with 5/8 chuck multispeed. It just depends on how large you wana go with and howmuch machinery you have.

Default I'm working on setting up my table saw .........

like yours. After all my work I'm 1/4 inch low on the table height. I'm cutting a 1/4 thick plywood to put on the stand. Then my plan is mount a vacuum port for the sawdust removal.

Nice clean shed, Mine was like that once. Do you ever do any work in there or just eat dinner there?

When I'm in town, I do quite a bit of work in there.
Everyday, before I shut down for the day, I blow down and sweep up.
Only takes about 15 minutes with the shop vac in the blowing mode.
It takes less time when the LOML is there to work the shop vac and I use the air compressor hose at the same time. The whole trick is to never let it get bad. Sometimes, I sweep twice a day. By keeping the shop clean, I can spray lacquer at a moments notice.

Did you make those stools I see hanging on the wall? Those look pretty handy...like they would be perfect for setting up a temporary table.

I am impressed.

I have to fight to get into mine, no matter how hard I try to keep it tidy.
