Default Making sanding belts from roll abasives

Does anyone know what type of fabric or hot melt adhesives are used to join belt sanding belts such as 3x21 or 4x24? I want to make my own at home out of surplus roll abrasive stock. Can I purchase the stuff? easily and has anyone else tried this...or am I just too cheap and need to keep buying ready made ones? Any thoughts? Bill

Default glue

I tried a couple "over the counter" glues and all see to fail or overheat and melt. This source is really reasonable for paper & belts.
