Default Looking For Black Walnut Spindles

When I finish my current project I want to make a rocking chair for one of my granddaughters. I want to make this chair out of black walnut that I already have.

A problem is that I have not been able to find any black walnut spindles. I can find dowels but no spindles. I do not own or do lathe work.

Anybody have any ideas?

George

I just got a new issue of www.tablelegs.com and saw they have walnut. I know making them would be much more fun. I am just giving you an option.

I went to the web site but did not see anything about them having spindles. Can you give me a more specific reference. All I saw were legs and chair kits.

Thanks.

Thanks. Unfortunately I did not find anything in there small enough. For a granddaughter chair I need a diameter of somewhere around 3/8 to 1/2 inch.

I will keep looking.

Wish I had the space for a lathe.

I was about to suggest that this project might be a good excuse to get into wood turning. Space in an issue though. Too bad. Most woodturners I hear from find it very addictive. Success with wood turning comes early on, and grows very quickly...
