That's what I have been using. I have used it on a couple of rough projects. Getting ready to use it on a bit more interesting projects I will encourage you to practice with it a bit. . I like mine and it's going to stay in my shop.

I was given a gift of the larger Krieg pocket hole system. I really like it, but my use of it has been limited, largely because the type of wood working I like to do. Having said that, the times that I have used it I was impressed with the results. I did find out that practice and reading how to best use the system, will get you results that you like. It does produce a neat, strong joint and proper set up puts the joint where you want it. I think you will like it.

I used my Kreg Jig for the first time this weekend. The end result was OK but I have a couple of questions. I felt that I had set the depth properly according to the chart, however the screw did not seat below the surface of the wood.(about 1/4 of the head was visible) Is this common? Also the chart called for a 1 1/4 inch screw. when I inserted that screw it barely touched the wood I was screwing into. I used a longer screw and it was fine.

Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong? The back edge of the jig had to small extensions. I assumed that this hung over that back edge to align it. I then put the clamp on it.

Help

When set properly, the screw will be below the surface about one quarter inch. Review your technique and redo your settings. Screw length depends on the thickness of the joints being made. Get some scrap out and give it another try.

Got one and love I got mine when they were fairly new on the market
I put up a shelf for paint cans today and didn't use anything but Kreg screws. As others have said practice on scrap, the thickness of the board makes you have to readjust the collier on the drill bit.

won't trade my its here to stay.

I also own this jig and I find it very useful in building carcass boxes. Practice with it before you work on your actual project, tho---

Default Krig Jig

I also have one and use it quite a bit. It is great for making quick jigs, shelves, etc.

It also is great for putting webs into furniture casings. The only problem I have had is making sure the pieces are firmly clamped as I have some trouble with creep. It has not been enough to not use but even a 1/16" or 1/32" creep sometimes can be enough to be annoying.

That being said, it still is a great deal easier that trying to mortise and tenon and assemble all the pieces at once.

Hope this helps.

There was another thread a couple of months ago on the same subject. It was quite extensive. If you look it should still be there.

love love love my kreg jig! It's cheaper than biscuits, and a biscuit joiner and you can join plates with it even. Don't let anybody tell you different. Again...love love love the kreg jig

P.s. I've even fixed a squeaky floor with a kreg jig...I used bessey quick ratchet clamps. The kreg clamp is kind of a waste of money.

One the post where they said there was creeping that's because it's a self taping screw. When I bought mine at a trade show he said the board would move out a bit before clamping tight. I stopped this by creeping by clamping before screwing.

The board with the pocket does have the tendency to "lift off" about 1/32 to maybe 1/16th of an inch but always pulls tight. a cheap set of 90 degree angle clamps should be sufficient to keep the joint square..better yet make a jig
