Default japanese and german beam hewing

Just posted a couple of videos of an amazing meeting I went to in Germany in 2005. Japanese and German hand hewing of beams. These folk are full time timber framers using hand tools only so make it look quite easy.

Thanks for the videos.That was some nice wood the japanese guy was working on.Looked like tamo ash.
I loved the vid on the foot-powered lathe I've been wanting to make one for a couple years.Anyone know where to get fairly detailed plans.That would be GReat.Thanks again!

Looks pretty BAREFOOTED to me. Tends to make you very attentive. Notice he stops working to talk to the onlookers.
