Default I hate to do it... New Section Question?

I am really starting to get interested in Timber Framing, can we have a sub-category for it? Or am I the only one with an interest?

Beautiful work! I love timber work.

You should send a PM to Nathan, the site administrator, with your suggestion.

So far we have 3 members who are interested.

BTW- I am not associated with the house in anyway, but hopefully here in a year I will be on a timber project!

I do a lot of bandsaw work with timber. Lots of corbels, arches, and brackets for the outside of peoples' homes. Enough to justify a 3hp 19" bandsaw, that is!

I think a timber frame topic is a good idea, but there may already be a timber frame forum out that talks only about timber framing topics, which I imagine can be just as many as woodworking. For example here is one I just got from Google

I think a timber sub-forum would be great!

I don't think we could do better than the Timber Framer's Guild. Unless they turn out to be real snobs, I would not attempt a second forum at this time.

It wont hurt to make a sub forum for the topic. Any ideas on names and what topic it should be off of?
In my mind it's sort of like the forestry section. Not a our main focus but a fun overlap of skills.

I would be interested in reading whatever you guys might want to post about timberframing. I always found it interesting, just don't have any first hand experience at it.

I think it should be sub forum of Forestry, named: Timber Framing

I like the idea too. I don't see what you could call the section except Timber Framing either. Unless it is Framing with Timbers, but there is more to Timber Framing than just framing with timbers, so I cast my vote for Timber Framing. Definitely in the forestry section.

My handle is partially due to my dabbling in it over the past 4 years. Haven't done much lately. Would love to keep the juices flowing though and a section would help that.

Good suggestion Cole.

OK, it's been added here: Timber Framing - Woodworking Talk - Woodworkers Forum

Now we need some posts since it's so empty... hint hint..
