Default how to ID quatersawn mahogany

I was looking to sell off some of my excuss wood to ease space in the garage. I talked to a guy that is looking for some quatersawn mahogant for guiter necks. I have a lot of mahogany but I don't know if any of it is quatersawn. How can I tell by looking at a rough cut board?

Thanks!
Derek

The growth rings of 1/4 sawn will run straight from top face to bottom face, flat sawn the grain/rings runs across the width of the board.

I knew I had posted pictures I took in a 1/4 sawing discussion...just took me a minute to find them. Mahogany will not have as pronounced growth rings, but maybe the pic will still help. I darkened one growth ring with a pencil.

1/4 sawn:

That was going to be my comment back to you, if Mahogany having an interlocking grain and such, is it really easy to tell?

I have a ton of african mahogany and yes it is easy to tell if its QS or not by looking at the end. The ribbon stripe on the face of QS african mahogany is quite impressive looking.

Ok i looked through my stack of Mahogany... I tried to take a picture of 2 boards that I thought looked like the grain ran from top to bottom.... or mostly at least... although grain line and saw line look pretty lose when in the rafters of a dark garage 6 feet in the air on on a ladder.

Are these 1/4 sawn?
