Default Holes in work bench

I took this picture from Basser425's gallery.

I would love to see some pictures of how exactly you use the holes in the bench. I understand they have something to do with holding a work piece but how???

djonesax What is not in the picture are the blocks are pegs that fit in the holes. You put a set in the holes on top of the vise and some in the holes in the table and place your work piece between and tighten the vise. The other use of the holes are to use with an "L" shaped clamp that one end goes in the hole and the other on top of the work piece and then you hit the end down that goes in the hole. I know there's a name for that clamp, But I don't know whats it's called.

Dog holes for me. Use the end vice to pinch pieces and hold them on the table. Man I arrange my dogs for everything from planing/sanding/routing...I took some pictures of the bench I built here, maybe you can see a couple reasons for the holes My bench is done (for now)

Thanks, for the pics Daren. It makes total sense now. I remember seeing the pics of your bench way back when you first posted them. I was confused then too, but I get it now thanks. I remember thinking, how in the world does that vise work... Feel kind a dumb now, but oh well.

Thanks
