Default hinge question

I'm trying to identify a hinge that I need to replace. I can provide photos of the old hinge so I can go shop for a similar replacement.

Which forum would be the best to post the question to?

WELCOME TO THE FORUM

My best guess would be to give it a shot in "General Woodworking Discussion".

Here's a photo of the cabinet door with the good hinge in place.

Here's a photo of the hinge close up.

This is the good one. The one that I'm looking to replace has the screw thread stripped completely. So putting in and tightening the screw has no effect.

I am looking for a replacement hinge that I can swap in. I don't have any woodworking tools other than my screwdrivers etc.

cabinetman, it certainly looks like it. I didn't realize the "h" (haefele) logo was inverted. Let me dig through a bit.

Confirmed that the part is indeed the right one. From the Hafele hinge catalog, the 343.90.710 is the hinge I'm looking for.

Here are a list of etailer/retailers who seem to carry it.
* cabinetmaker's link.
* Amazon seems to carry it via their marketplace. Its not clear if the Amazon one is an exact match with a 78degree angle.
* Lockandhinge seems to be an exact match however.

I plan to call Hafele tomorrow to see if they can recommend a retailer or etailer who carries the hinge. I'll also ask around if there are any cabinet makers locally who have it.

Thanks for helping to identify the part.

I recently set up an account with Hafele when I could not find the hinges I needed in a retail outlet. They were good to work with me even though it was a small order.

Resurrecting an old thread. The hinge is working well. However, the mounting plate on which it screws into, seems to have broken. 1. Is mounting plate the term for the piece of metal that's embedded into the wood and on which the hinge is screwed into? 2. What specific mounting plate should I look for when ordering from retailers/etailers that carry Hafele products? Grateful for any advice.
