I am looking to buy an affordable planer for my personal use, i found this planer on craigslist and was wondering if it is a good buy at $250

..if you need it, buy it... being a tight-wad, I'd try to shave 25 or so bucks off first...

I see planers on craigslist around Detroit all the time for 175-250, i got my dewalt for 175. Not sure how that kansas city market it though

That particular planer in the GA area is going for 200.00 on the average. Never used one myself but I have heard good things about it. I'd try to talk him down a few benji's.

Ridgid makes good tools. They're consistently rated at the top of their price range. I haven't checked in a while, but I believe their newest 13" planer retails for about $350, so that price may be a little high for that model. But it's a good, solid planer for the average woodworker. I'd try to get it for closer to $200 though.

That would be an excellent price for the planer, if new. I'm not sure as a used unit. I would try to do a little negotiating. I also feel $200 would be more appropriate. I bought a 12-1/2 inch Delta Shopmaster new a few years back for $179 on a clearance. I think the Rigid may be a bit better planer than the Delta I have. The Rigid tools do seem to be well made. It never hurts to make an offer, all they can do is either dicker or say Yes or no.
