Smile gluing plywood to solid wood

i salvaged a bookcase from the school library-solid oak-4 units long with two nice frame and panel ends. i'm buliding two new frame and panel ends so i can turn it into 2 bookcases ,two units long each. the middle dividers are solid quarter sawn oak withrows of holes bored thru them on both sides for the shelf pins. can i cover one side with plywood that's quarter sawn oak faced and have the plywood extend just a little to fill the frame- if i glue it face to face -will it crack 'cause the wood'll move and the plywood won't?should i just glue one edge of it-so the would can move from there without cracking-/ help?the solid wood is 10"wide the plywood 10 3/4"the wood is 1/2" thick theplywood is 1/4" thick-it's 40" long-not that that matters-i'm using 1 1/8 thick oak for the frame.

I would think that the wood in the old school library book cases had long been stable. I do not think you should have any problems.
