Default Fixing wood dents on finished wood?

Quick question about fixing wood dent or marks on pieces that are already finsihed. My floors are oak and I recently moved a piece of furniture and although I had pads on the feet, one came off and marked the floor. The floor has ployurethan...is there any way to remove the dent through the poly w/out impacting the color or finish?

Lay a damp washcloth over the damaged area and run a hot iron over it. Experiement with temperature and time. The steam from the washcloth should swell the damaged fibers and lessen the severity of the dents. Perhaps follow that with a light sanding and some more poly to finish off the repair.
