Love the "look". You are off the a good start.

I made something similar for our bath room but
in a 30's style.

Did you have plans or just an "idea"?

If I had to do mine over I would put more
space above the towel bar.

The bath room is not big enough to get
a good shot.. Bought a LARGE pack of
bath tissue and couldn't get it all in the
pantry...

Great work, Brother....a simple, straight-forward project that utilizes quite a few fundamental skills....dados, miters, radii, solids and veneers....man, I think you just about have them all covered. Your skills set will only improve from here. Nice, nice work. Good on you.

Default Thanx

Thanks for the nice reviews. When I read all the posts here I dont understand some of the terminology but the more I read the more of it I understand!A little like what came first the chicken or the egg! Next thing will be two corner bookcase type shelfs for my home computer room.I bought two sheets of 18mm veneer red oak plywood at Lowe's $100,and thats with thier 10% off for veterans day discount.Kinda expensive, maybe I shoulda went to a lumber yard.I'm rambling but thanks again - Itchybrother.

Itchy Brother Great job on your first project. Can't wait to see your second project. I know this is going to be a funny question, but did you used a bucket or a paint can to draw your arches?

If that's your first project, and you are only a beginner, I think we can all look forward to some fine postings from you in the future.

I used a plan that is in The Complete Book of Woodworking to make this shelf and it showed using a paint can.I am a beginner and have made a few boxes as u can see I've posted here.I do have a few decades of exp in aircraft sheetmetal which gave me knowledge in using some similar tools and measuring techniques. So I do think it gives me a little jump start from being totally comatose lol!By just looking at some of u guyzez accomplishments I certainly do feel a little intimidated but also ya spur me on to do better so keep showing your work.Itchy/Gary

Looks great - and the best part is it's functional! Seems you can never have to much storage and utility in bathrooms, kitchen's, garages...

As a suggestion, on future pieces, take some 100 - 150 grit sand paper and ease the edges of the finished piece before you do the finish, especially in areas like the arches. In my opinion, it gives a piece a more hand crafted look.

Again, great work!
