Ohio Ron

Last year I decided to try my hand at making a fire truck for my grandson. I researched the web, selected the truck and features I wanted and scaled them up to what I wanted. It is about 18" long, has a extending ladder, rubber hose and a hand crank to reel the hose in. I made all round wood parts on my lathe and used some hardware from our local store to simulate bolts, lugs, valves, etc. I used a lot of left over wood pieces, oak, mahogany, walnut, maple, etc. The main body is Padouk.

I gave it to him for Christmas last year and I made it strong enough to plays with. It has been a year and it still looks great.

you have to know now that your off spring will expect this for each of the children. There is no telling what a riff you may have caused.. I bet they love it, the son not the grandson.
The irony I see here is the fire truck is made of combustibles.
