Do you want to make natural edge bowls? Leaving the bark on will help protect some from bugs that might get at the wood. I suspect it also helps prevent overly fast drying along the length of the log, but I have no actual experience of drying with versus without bark.

Default Drying wood question

Thanks for responding Frank. I will be getting the lathe for Christmas, and will have to learn how to do lathe work. That sums up my experiance and I will probobly be asking a million questions later. The logs will be stored in my basement shop. I have 2 dehumidifiers in the shop and keep them set at 35%. The less cracking the better and I am not sure how to do it. I have so much to learn it scares me. thanks for the feedback Waldo
