Default Candle wax

I was wondering if plain candle wax (MELTED down)would be good for sealing the end grain of wood? Would it be as good as ancorseal? What do you use?

Don,
I am sure the candle wax would do the job, but that's a lot more trouble to go through. I use greenseal. It comes out of the jug looking like Mop n glo. Just use a cheap brush and paint it on in a matter of a minute or two. It dries waxy to the touch. I keep a gallon jug of water nearby and just rinse the brush quickly for reuse. I keep this all right inside my shop door so it's ready to go. I never know when I am going to come across a fresh cut log.

Where do you find this greenseal? Is it expensive? Would it be the same as anchorseal?

Mike,

Is this the Greenseal you're talking about?

Don,
The greenseal I use is basically the same as anchorseal. I think I bought it at woodcraft or rocklers. I bought a gallon and it lasts awhile, depending on how many logs you acquire. Should only be around 15-20.00 a gallon.
