Default Box with 4 sides mitered

Hello all,

I'm trying to make a smallish box(5 x 8 x 4) where the four sides made of 3/4 or 1/2 inch pine, The bottom is open and the top will be covered with a thin veneer. I'd like the sides to be put together with Miter joint so that I don't have any open end grain. My problem is that can't figure out a good way to clamp it all together so that it is square. Any suggestions?

Just tape the corners together. You should have a square box as long as your miters are right on.

Band clamps work great in this situation.

Yep. Just used a band clamp for the first time and it worked very well.

Default For a box of this size

You can use 1" wide sections of inner tubes, car, truck, motorcycle depending on how they fit. A tire store or auto repair shop will have old ones. Surgical tubing also works but just make certain the base or top is square, so you're not fighting with that and can't get the corners to close up. Are you going to rabbet or dado the top or is this a mitered top as well? This can make it more difficult if so.
You say the bottom is open? It this a cover rather than a container? bill

I did as well a couple months ago, I was skeptical at first, once I had it on and started to tighten it up the corners pulled snug as a bug.
