I have easy access to some 4x4x6' white oak posts that I want to use underneath a powerhammer in my blacksmith shop this summer. I will have about 9 posts side by side between the hammer and the concrete, I planned on drilling 3 holes in each and bolting them together with some all thread. The powerhammer weighs about 2400lbs and is in a somewhat climate controlled shop.
Would I have any issues with the greenwood warping, being indoors and under such a heavy machine? Some small cracks and checks wouldn't be an issue. I planned on bolting the posts together because gluing greenwood doesn't work out well, correct?
