Well, this site has been going for about 2 years now and it's a lot of fun.
I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions or feedback on how we can make things better. Additional topics, features, etc...

Let me know if you have any feedback good or bad.

Thanks

Nathan, I appreciate the work thats done to provide help to woodworkers. Being a newbie, this is my daily newspaper. It's good to see how different people approach a similar task.

My first shop is about 80% done. Need shingles and exterior siding. The main thing is, while I'm waiting to get that done I am able to get inside and work.

Keep up the good work.

PS/ there's some great woodworkers here and some real characters

Nathan I don't know if this is possible but I would like to see at the bottom of the new tread window were it says "Showing results 1 to 13 of 13" a link to the new topics from yesterday. When I sign on every day (well more like 5 or 6 times a day) I go to the new post section and read whats new. Sometimes I reply that day and go back the next day to see what else has been added and its not there anymore. I know you can go to your user cp and find what you have posted. But a link to yesterdays post would be nice.

Hmmmm... Let's see, Nathan... How about a section of pictures of scantly clad female models working around the shop and call it "Women Working With Wood..."

There's a woodturning and milling section... How 'bout a Scrollsaw section?

Maybe a "Shop Talk" section for questions or bragging about your shop, electrical, dust collection, etc.

The "Designs and Plans" section seems to be used for things I would not put under that section. I would think of that as a place for shared plans or designs. Maybe we could have a database of sketches or plans we use.

Actually, this forum is quite nice the way it is... But I think these might make it even better. Just MHO... which that and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee... MAYBE....

Seems to me you guys are doing a pretty good job Nathan. If I can think of any way to improve the forum I'll chime in.

Hey... Where are the scantly clad women pictures I asked for?

I have joined a new fly fishing forum that is using this same software. I'm stea... uh... plagor....uh... borrowing some of the ideas from this forum as suggestions for that one... (Hey... at least there is a chance at a "Women in Waders" section there... LOL) I don't really see a whole lot of room for improvement here.

Nathan, I belong to two other forums (SMC and FWW), both of which use this same software. When I get an e-mail from one of those sites telling me that a post has been placed in a thread I've contributed to, the e-mail contains the text of the post, so I can read it quickly and make the choice at that time whether to log on and read further or just delete the e-mail. I'd like to see that happen here, so I have a choice.

Also, how about a "today's birthdays" list on the home page??

Other than that, I think it's working well.

I know what you mean and it is nice to see the summary. The problem is that about 50% of the users will see the content of the post and then hit reply on their email and I get the message instead of it being posted in the thread. Also, unless you visit the thread you don't see any additional updates.
You would be amazed at how many people hit reply and send me an email when they get a subscribed thread notice.

I'll look into the birthdays thing.

"Today's Birthdays" has been enabled. They should start showing on the bottom of the homepage as they occur.

Thanks.

One more thing: I know we can't make it mandatory, but I sure would like to see STRONG ENCOURAGEMENT for everyone to put their location in their profiles, especially since we have so many who use pseudonyms rather than real names.
