Lightbulb What about a " JIGS" section/ subforum

Hi,

I've been reading lots of posts and different sub forums on this site and I really enjoy them all. The people here are very friendly and really helpful when somebody asks for help.

I want to suggest a jigs section where people can ask / suggest / show their jigs attached to different tools for different purposes. I think this would be a very popular section since we are looking always for different ways to attack the same job.

Not a bad idea... could it be a sub forum of another topic?

Could go under Hand Tools or Power Tools and Machinery as a subsection.

You could put it under the Shop Talk section and entitle it "Tricks, Tips, & Homemade Jigs" or something of the like. Niki alone has enough posts here showing his awesome shop-built jigs and shortcut type tricks to give the sub-forum a great head start. We have quite a few pros on this forum who have shared their tips and tricks and we might even have a weekly or monthly feature where one of our members, or a guest, could be invited to share "Tip of the Month" or something.

I have enough contacts alone to get a few months worth of special guests. I think it's a great idea myself. I don't think it ought to be a place where commercial jig manufacturers get to ply their wares (rules me out too) though. It ought to be shop-built jigs only IMHO, and shop tricks and tips etc.

Great suggestion eco. I think I actually ran something like the tips and tricks idea by Nathan a month or so ago and he said go for it, but I just have not had the time. Adding the shopbuilt jigs with it and making it all one section would be perfect.

AMEN, Brudda....

I think that's a GREAT idea. I've already put a butchered version of one of Niki's jigs on my router table. Now I don't have to be a contorsionist to set the router height. And a 300 lb contorsionist is quite a sight to see....

I started a thread a few months ago saying something like show me you're jigs...no responses.

Thanks a lot for your positive feedback I hope we see this subforum up and running sometime soon. At least I can't wait to see how people tackle some tasks.
