Sorry, for what is probably an ignorant question. What do the thread rating stars mean? How do some threads get stars and others don't? Is there a voting mechanism? Just curious.

Up at the top right of your post you will see "rate thread". It was a good idea originally....unfortunately it has been taken advantage of by spammers. (we have had a rash of spam bots join and blast the forum lately) Most of the "rated" treads you see were tacked onto by the spammer, then they gave it 5 stars .

If you read a thread that you think is cool you can hit "rate thread' and give it as many stars as you want.
