Do any members know how to send photos via PMs without uploading them into the gallery?

None of us mods know if it is, or if it isn't possible.

Yep but we ask that members don't post links to pics on offsite storage. And that isn't really sending a photo in a PM it's sending a link.

I am thinking there is not a way to do it, but wanted to be sure. No big deal really.

Built any geetars lately?

I dunno much about it either dog, just that those pics from photobucket would disappear from any posts they are in if photobucket ever goes kaput.

I got nothing against photobucket I even have an account there. I just don't use it to post pictures with.

I think you can copy and paste a .jpg as long as it's flanked with "" it'll work.
.gif, .jpeg, and a few other suffixes might work too. You can grab them from a host like Photobucket, Amazon, google, Lowe's, etc. I have no idea about the legal ramifications of doing that, and am not advocating it, but it's possible to do. (that said, I don't mind a bit so long as no one gets hurt!)

I'll try sending you a PM

Okay so you would have to copy it from a url address. I want to be able to send them from my hard drive. I suppose I could post them on my own website then copy the url.
Thanks for the ideas. Got your PM it worked.

It got by me too!

Not that it's hard a thing to do though.

Not sure you can....or, more accurately stated, I don't know how to do it.

It's certainly possible from your website:

Is that a pic of Yosemite Sam wearing sunglasses silked onto those boards?

I don't see how it is possible to do it without linking the site, and I am wanting to avoid that.

Can you explain, step by step, how you are doing it? Are you right clicking a picture on a website and clicking "Copy" or using the Upload a File From a URL in the Attachment Manager, or using the Insert Image icon? Any of the above and I believe the picture is still linked to an outside URL.

I don't think I'm doing it the way you would like to. AFAIK, I"m still linking to a website, but you should be able to imbed the pic by adding [img] and [/img} on each side of the address. I do a right click on a pic from a hosting website, and choose "properties", then copy the address and then imbed it in a PM or post (some PC's allow you to directly "copy image location" without clicking on "properties" first. You can avoid posting it in the gallery first if you want, but you won't be able to do this method from your hard drive AFAIK.

Beyond that explanation, I know very little about how this all works.
